Two children met with tragic end of their lives after drowning in a pond in Maheshpur upazila of the district on Friday.
The victims were identified as Madhuri, 09 and her brother Mahabub, 06. They were the residents in Hamidpur area of Maheshpur municipality.
Police said the incident occurred this afternoon when Madudhuri and Mahabub were playing on the bank of a pond close to their house. Mahabub fell into the pond and drowned, his sister Madhuri drowned as she went to rescue Mahabub.
Local people rescued Madhuri and Mahabub and sent them to Maheshpur Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared them dead.
