Two children burnt alive following fire caught from bed-lamp after parents went out for work locking their rented house in Muladi municipal town of Barisal on early Tuesday.
Shahalam, Muladi police station in charge, acknowledging the facts told the children were identified as Hasan, 6, Chadni, 5, son and daughter of Zakir Hossain and Rani Begum, two employees of sweeping section under Muladi municipality.
Police and local sources said Zakir and Rani went to work of sweeping roads locking the door of the rented house owned by Fazle Ali at Muladi Bridge area lighting oil-lamps near their bedside to avoid fear of children from darkness.
However accidentally fire caught from the lamp touched their beds and dresses and as the house was locked, the children failed to come out.
