BCL rival groups clash: Two cases filed, probe body formed at CU

The administration of Chittagong University has formed a 3- member investigation committee yesterday over a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Chittagong University unit which left 12 injured including a journalist and a police personnel.
The three member committee was comprised of Dr Abdullah al Faruq, dean of the Law Faculty as the chief of the committee, assistant proctor Murshedul Hoque as secretary member and Monir Uddin, Provost of AF Rahman.
Proctor Shiraj-ud-Daula ascertained the matter of forming the investigation committee adding that the committee was directed to submit the findings immediately.
Meanwhile, the activists of the two groups lodged cases against each other with Hathazari thana Saturday night alleging one another for bearing country made sharp weapon during the clash.
Ismail Hossain, officer in charge of Hathazari thana assured this correspondent of lodging the case by the two groups.
Mohammad Mohosin. A third year student of IERT and an activist of Banglar Muk filed a case naming 13 and 20-30 anonymous activists of 69 groups while Soruj Moholdar, of Anthrophology and an activist of 69 group filed a case naming 13 and 10-12 anonymous activists of Banglar Muk.
Earlier, a fierce clash took place between the two groups of Chhatra League of Chittagong University unit on Thursday. The duo were the fellow workers of Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AZM Nasir Uddin.
