At least two people received bullet injury in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Maheshkhali upazila in the district early Friday.

The injured were identified as Chhanaullah and Helal.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Maheshkhali Police Station Alamgir Hossain said, on secret information, law enforcers went to the area for arms haul. Sensing police presence, the gang of terrorists opened fire forcing the law enforcers to fire back.
At one stage, police found the bullet-hit Chhanaullah and Helal after their cohorts fled the scene, the OC added.
There were 26 cases against Chhanaullah and 12 cases against Helal, the OC said.
