Md. Zakaria Hossain, Judge of Additional District and Session Judge Court-1, Bagerhat, in a judgment delivered on Thursday, convicted 6 persons and sentenced two of them to suffer rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of Tk.20 thousand each in default to suffer another rigorous imprisonment for one year more and sentenced the rest 4 persons to suffer rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay a fine of Tk.10 thousand each in default to suffer another rigorous imprisonment for 6 months more on the charge of killing one Yusuf Ali Howladar.
Two accused women were, however, acquitted of the charge for want of sufficient evidences. All the convicted persons were absent at the time of the delivery of the judgment.
Two brothers who were awarded life-term are Akkas Ali Sardar and Asrab Ali Sardar, son of one Sherjan Ali Sardar of villageNikaripara within Badhal Union under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district and the rest 4 others who were awarded imprisonment for 1 year are Nurul Islam, Rahima Begum, Kamrul Ali and Karimunnisa. All the convicted persons are belonging to one family.
The prosecution story, in short, is that an enmity had been prevailing between Shah Jahan Hawladar of village Nikaripar and the accused persons of the same village over a plot of disputed land.
