Police recovered two bodies from Bhairab of Kishoreganj in Meghna river and Ashuganj estuary of Brahmanbaria with their hands and legs tied eight hours apart on Thursday midnight and Friday morning.
The identity of one of the two has been found, Ayub Khan (42) son of late Ali Miah of Bahadur village in Ashuganj. Ayub’s body was recovered around 6 pm. His legs and arms were tied with rope. There were marks of injuries on his body.
According to police, the first body was recovered from Bhairab Railway Bridge area of Meghna River . However, the identity was not confirmed. The deceased will be between 30 and 32 years of age. He had only his legs tied. There were four marks of injuries on the head. He was wearing a black vest and towel.
River police said, Ayub Khan has long been involved in robberies. There are at least 10 robbery cases against him in the surrounding police stations including Bhairab. There are multiple cases of arms and murder. He was arrested a few months ago and was released from prison a few days ago.
Bhairab River Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saidur Rahman said, looking at the type and signs of injuries, it seems that he may have been killed by a rival gang. They are trying to identify the other body.
Two dead bodies were sent to Kishoreganj general hospital morgue for autospy.
