At least two blood bank transmission centres were sealed off by a mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the city’s Fulbaria and Chawkbazar on charge of operating these illegally.
The court also fined Tk one lakh and 32 thousand
and sentenced to jail three persons in this connection.
The RAB-led Executive Magistrate Helal Uddin passed the order on Monday afternoon.
The culprits are Abul Bashar, 45, Linajhina Talukder, 24 and Moshaer Hossain, 29.
In Fulbaria, the mobile court led magistrate Helal Uddin has sealed off the Life Safe Blood Bank and Transmission Centre and sentenced to jail two employees.
Of them, Bashar was jailed for two months and fined Tk one lakh, while another Linajhina was jailed for seven days and fined Tk two thousand.
In Fulbaria, the mobile court also has conducted a drive at Creative Blood Bank and Transmission Centre and sealed off it and sentence to jail its owner Moshaer. He was jailed for 15 days and fined Tk 30,000.
RAB-2 Deputy Director Dr Md didarul Alam and Swapan Kumer Tarafder, a Deputy Director of the Health Directorate, who were present during the drive, said although the blood bank had registration, but it had no experienced experts while blood had been collecting and selling without testing the bloods of the donors.
Magistrate Helal Uddin said that at least five tests, including HIV, are mandatory for collecting blood from any person. But, they were not following the process.
