Two bills placed in JS

Two bills were placed in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Thursday with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presiding the session.
The bills are: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Pirojpur Bill, 2021 and Co-Bangladesh National Museum Bill, 2021.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni placed the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Pirojpur Bill, 2021 in the parliament.
The proposed bill suggests to establish this university by completing all the necessary procedures with some specific provisions, including finalising teaching methods and academic curriculum for students, and recruiting university staff, vice-chancellor, treasurer, dean, director of the institute, departmental chairman, librarian, provost, proctor, registrar, the controller of examination and other authorities and their responsibilities as well.
The bill also proposed specific provisions on university authorities, syndicate meetings, powers and responsibilities, formation of academic councils, faculties, curriculum committees and other relevant committees, budgets, audits and other related matters.
The House sent the bill to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education for scrutiny and asked to submit a report within a month.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Culture Affairs KM Khalid today placed the Bangladesh National Museum Bill 2021 to repeal the existing ordinance in this regard.
