At least two persons were beaten to death and another two seriously injured, charging them as thieves in Bariyabah area under Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur district.
The incident occurred around 4 am on Saturday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, but they might be between 30 and 32 years.
Alamgir Hossain Majumder, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliakoir Police Station told the news media that out of five cattle thieves, two were killed and two others critically injured. Three ran away.
Two of them were declared dead after taken to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex, OC also said.
