Two Bangladesh pairs move to mixed doubles semifinals

Bangladeshi pair Ahsan Habib Parash and Shapla Akhter reached the mixed-doubles semifinal of the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Open International Badminton Challenge eliminating Satinder Malik and Kristi Das of India by 21-15, 21-17 points at Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium on Thursday.
Another Bangladesh pair Moazzem Hossain and Bristy Khatun also reached the event semifinals defeating V Mawan of Malaysia and Prajakta Sawant of India by 21-11, 21-15 points.
Besides, Chee Tean Tan and Shevon Jemie Lai (Malaysia) beat Bikash Shrestha and Nangsal Tamang (Nepal) 21-5, 21-9; Wee Gieen Tan and Yen Wei Peck (Malaysia) Ratnajit Tamang and Sara Devi Tamang (Nepal) 21-16, 21-11 to reach the semifinals.
The men’s and women’s singles matches also advanced to the semifinal stage at the same venue on Thursday.
In the women’s singles, Dorotea Sutara (Croatia) beat Juhi Dewangan (India) 21-13, 21-8; Rui Chen Yap (Malaysia) defeated Ozge Bayrak (Turkey) 21-17, 21-10; Lee Zii Yii (Malaysia) beat Saili Rane (India) 21-19, 21-9 while Neslihan Tigit (Turkey) beat Achininimeshika Kapuru (Sri Lanka) 21-14, 21-18 to reach last four stages.
In the men’s singles, Dharma Alrie Guna (Indonesia) defeated Diddharath Thakur (India) 16-21, 21-8, 21-12; Subhankar Dey (India) beat June Wei Cheam (Malaysia) 21-15, 21-16 while Lim Chi Wing (Malaysia) beat Gaurav Venkat (India) to reach semifinals.
