Two persons were arrested with 1,100 bottles of banned phensidyl syrup in the capital by the detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
They were arrested conducting a raid on Thursday at near Energypac Electronics head office area on Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Sarani under the Tejgaon Industrial Police Station.
The arrested persons were Noor-e-Alam alias Liton Morol, 49 and driver Sujon Hossain, 30. At that time, a truck was seized from their possession.
A case has already been filed against the arrested persons with the Tejgaon Industrial Police Station.
DB Gulshan Division’s assistant police commissioner Mahbubul Alam told journalists that the arrested persons used to bring phensidyl from the border areas in Joypurhat district hiding those under the potato or vegetables laden trucks in the capital. They then used to sell those at different parts in the capital.
