Police arrested two member of Bangladesh Army along with 50,000 piece of contraband yaba from Shah Amanat Bridge under Karnaphuli thana early Sunday morning.
The arrestees were identified as Shihab Uddin and Shafiqul Islam; both are working in the Bangladesh Army.
Hasan Imam, Inspector (Investigation) of Karnaphuli Police Station, confirmed the news to media.
He said acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted a drive while the arrestees were coming from Cox’s Bazar and waiting for another dispatch in the city’s Mozzertek area around 3:00am. After searching their bags, police recovered 50,000 piece of yaba, the Inspector added.In primary interrogation the army men confessed that they brought the yaba from Cox’s Bazar.
A case was filed under Narcotics Control Act under Karnaphuli Police Station in this connection.
