A Jordanian police officer has shot dead at least two Americans and one South African, officials have said.
The killings on Monday took place inside a police training centre in Amman, Jordan’s captal city.
The shooter was later shot dead.
Jordanian government spokesman, Mohamad Momani, said the shooter’s name was Anwar Abu Zaid.
Four Jordanians were also critically injured.Momani added that the shooter had served in the criminal investigation department and the police intelligence unit, before joining the training programme in Muwaqar.
Pentagon Spokesman Major James Brindle told Al Jazeera that the Pentagon was trying to verify information, adding that he could not yet confirm the identity of the two dead Americans.
