Two local Awami League (AL) leaders were murdered in the district on Wednesday midnight. The deceased were identified as Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan (50), president of Charshahi union unit of Awami League, and Abdul Majid (50), leader of a Raipur Pourasabha ward unit. Abdul Mannan was slaughtered to death by miscreants at Rampur village under Laxmipur Sadar upazila on Wednesday midnight. Being informed by locals, police recovered the dead body from his village Rampur at around 2.00am. Family sources said Abdul Mannan was slaughtered to death by miscreants after calling him out of his residence at around 11.00pm. The dead body was sent to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
