Laxmipur Correspondent :Two local level Awami League leaders in Raipur and Sadar upazilas of the district were killed by miscreants on Wednesday night. Police recovered the bodies from two different places early Thursday and sent them to Sadar hospital for autopsy. The deceased were identified as Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, president of Charshahi union unit of AL and resident of Rampur village of Sadar upazila and Abdul Mazid, general secretary of the ward unit of AL in Charpata union of Raipur upazila.Family members and police said Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan went out of his house after getting several phone calls but he did not return. One Heju of the neighbourhood found the blood stained body of Abdul Mannan while he was going for catching fish in the night.Anjumara Begum, wife of slain Abdul Mannan, said terrorists had been threatening her husband with death over mobile phone for the last 15 days. In another incident, some unidentified people called Abdul Mazid out of the house over phone at around 10:00 pm on Wednesday. As he did not return home even after a long time, the family members began searching him and at one stage, they spotted the slaughtered body of Abdul Mazid in front of the house early in the morning.On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. The reasons behind the two killings could not be known immediately. But local and police said previous enmity might be the reason behind the killings.
