Twenty seven swimmers selected for next round in Comilla

Twenty seven swimmers including 25 boys and two girls were initially picked up for the next round from Comilla District as part of countrywide swimming talent hunt programme named ‘Bangladesh in Search of Best Swimmers’ on Saturday.
A total of 96 swimmers including 94 of boys and two of girls took part in the in the four age groups (11-12 year, 13-15 year, 15-17 year and above 18-year). The trial was held at Education Board pond in Comilla.
Comilla Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Moniruzzaman Talukder was the chief guest in the progrrame. Bangladesh Navy Commander SM Mahmudur Rahman Lieutenant Commander Naimul Haque and Lieutenant Commander, were among others, present on the occasion.
Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Bangladesh Navy are jointly organising the six-month programme, first of its kind in Bangladesh, in search of talented swimmers from upazila level.
In the six-month programme, participating swimmers, split in four age groups, will go through three-phase selection procedure.
Finally, 60 swimmers will be selected for the long-term training programme under the direct supervision of the Swimming Federation.
The Bangladesh Swimming Federation will bear the entire expenses, including education for the finally selected 60 swimmers.
The talent hunt programme is expected to be concluded on October 2, said a press release today.
