Sabrina Afroj, a private TV channel journalist has filed a case against her husband Ruhul Amin for demanding dowry and torturing her with his licensed pistol with Gulshan Police Station in the city under Children and Women’s Repression Act on Tuesday.
It is alleged that, after one month of their marriage, her husband was demanding Tk 20, 00000 ( Twenty lakh ) as dowry and she was tortured several times . On Monday, Ruhul Amin again demanded the dowry money and when she refused to pay the money, she hit her on the back , hands and injured her head seriously with his licensed pistol.
Sabrina alleged that, he took some secret pictures and videos of their conjugal life and threatened her that if she takes any legal action, he will spread it through internet. She also alleged that he is involved in anti-social activities like trafficking, but it was not known to her before marriage. Sabrina further complained that he hide his age and his previous three marriages to her family before marriage.
Meanwhile, a warrant of arrest has been issued and it has also been sent to concerned police stations of his present and permanent addresses. Ruhul Amin has gone hiding to avoid the arrest.
When contacted, duty-officer of Gulshan thana confirmed the matter to The New Nation yesterday.
