With yet another century to his name, seasoned batsman Tushar Imran has become the first Bangladeshi cricketer ever to touch the 11-thousand mark in first-class cricket.
Coming to play against Rangpur Division in the third match of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) with 10,906 runs, the Khulna lad got out for a meeky 12 runs in the first innings, but struck a brilliant century on his way to opening the elite club.
Before ending his knock on 103 runs, Imran made his 31st first-class ton, the highest by any Bangladeshi batsman. He had started the day’s play on 63 runs. After making 103 off 176 deliveries smashing 8 fours, he got out at the hands of Tanbir Hayder, just two balls before the lunch break.
Tushar made centuries in both innings of the first round of this NCL (104 and 159). He could bat for just one innings in the next match and 31 runs came from his willow. After playing 163 first-class matches, his average stands 44.25, with 220 being his career best knock.
Tushar, who will turn 35 this December, is a veteran of 5 Tests and 41 ODIs for Bangladesh national team. But the last time he could represent his country was way back in December, 2007.
