Tug of war for getting custody of a neonatal girl abandoned on roadside of the city created sensation.
Five couples who have no child identified themselves as Ayesha Siddiki, Abdul Bari Chowdhury, Ekramul Huq Chowdhry, Nazrul Islam, Afsanul Jahir applied separately before the court on Sunday, expressed their interest to take custody of the recovered neonatal girl.
Mizanur Rahman, judge of first additional district and session judge and child-juvenile court after hearing on Sunday, ordered the interested couples to submit proves about their financial ability for raring the neonatal girl with safety and security and giving a bond of taka 10 lakhs .
The court fixed the date of finalizing the decision on January 1, 2019.
Court also ordered to continue raring the child under custody of Kamrul Ahsan Rupon, who doing that since the first day of recovering the neonatal girl.
Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Kotwali Police Station, said the neonatal girl aged about a week was recovered as abandoned near Barishal City College campus area at 11:40 PM on October 17.
Minara Begum, a domestic help of Nasiruddin Chowdhury’s residence of the area, hearing cry of the child informed the police with the help of local journalist.
Police recovering the child give under custody of Kamrul Ahsan Rupon, for caring and raring temporarily.
Ayesha Siddiki, an interested housewife appealed before the court on October 24 for taking custody of child.
The court granting her prayer temporarily, fixed the date of October 28 for final hearing.
However in the meantime Ekramul Huq Chowdhury, brother in law of Kamrul Ahsan Rupon, appealed against the court order and court cancelling the previous order, fixed October 28 for final hearing.
During the hearing more three couple also expressed their interest before the court for taking raring the neonatal girl.
Afsanul Jahir, one of the interested couple who came from Dhaka, said he informed about the matter through mass media and feeling deep humanitarian interest appeared before the court.
`We have no issue from 16 years of our married life and so we wanted to take charge for raring and caring the child, he added.
