Staff Reporter : The Jubo League central committee on Tuesday suspended Matin Sarker, elder brother of rape accused Tufan Sarker and also joint secretary of Bogra district unit Jubo League. Matin has been expelled temporarily from the party, as his activities have tarnished the party’s image. Jubo League (JL) president Omar Faruq Chowdhury has issued an order against Matin, said Aminul Islam Dablu, General Secretary of the JL Bogra district unit. “The local JL unit will never shelter anyone of the party if he is found involved any act that tarnishes the image of the party and the government,” he said. On Sunday, Tufan Sarker, convener of Bogra town Sramik League, was suspended from the organization over the rape allegation. A statement jointly issued by Bogra district unit Shramik League President Rafiqul Islam and its General Secretary Shamsuddin Sheikh Helal confirmed the suspension. Our Bogra Correspondent adds: A court here on Tuesday asked law enforcers to ensure adequate security to the female student, who was allegedly raped and tortured by Tufan Sarker, a local Sramik League leader. Additional District Judge Md Emdadul Haque of Bogra Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order after the victim gave judicial statement before the court. Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bogra Shyam Sundar Roy recorded the victim’s depositions from 3:45pm to 5:15pm. The Additional District Judge also asked the authorities of Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital to ensure proper treatment of the victim, who is now undergoing treatment there.
