A court here on Friday placed Sramik League leader Tufan Sarkar and Bogra municipality female councillor Marzia Hasan Rumki on a two-day fresh remand over the shaving of the heads of a female student and her mother after the rape of the girl allegedly by Tufan.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate
Shyam Sundar Roy passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking five days’ remand for each of them.
Besides, Tufan’s close associate Munna gave a confessional statement before the court under section 164 of the penal code.
On 17 July, Tufan took the girl to his house at Badurtala in the district town promising to arrange her admission into a local college and raped her there.
When Tufan’s wife Asha and her elder sister Rumki came to know the incident, they along with some associates picked up the girl and her mother from their house.
