Trucker held with 30,000 Yaba tablets

Police and officials of the Department of Narcotics Control in a joint drive arrested a truck driver along with 30,000 pieces of Yaba tablet from Moijjartek area under Karnaphuli thana in the city early Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Nurul Islam, a resident of Purba Pankhali village in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
Tapan Sharma, inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control (Sub-region), Chittagong, said on secret information, a team of police and officials of the department jointly conducted a drive in the area and intercepted a truck on its way to the port city from Teknaf at about 2:00 am.
They arrested truck driver Nurul Islam and
recovered 30,000 pieces of the contraband tablet from the vehicle.
The arrestee was handed over to Karnaphuli Police Station.
Nurul Islam had long been involved in trading of the highly amphetamine tablet in different areas of the city, the inspector added.
A case was filed in this connection.
