A pedestrian died on the spot as goods laden truck ran over him after being chased by extortionists at Satmail area under Sharsha upazila in Jessore on Thursday night.
The dead was identified as Abul Kashem, 55, son of Late Ahmad Ali of Amtala village under Sharsha upazila in Jessore.
Locals and police said the incident took place on Nabharan- Satkhira Road at Satmail while a goods laden speedy truck ran over the pedestrian after being chased by extortionists on the road at around 7pm on Thursday.
Sub inspector Bayejid, in-change, Baganchra police camp confirming the information told journalists that the body was send to Jessore Medical College Hospital for post mortem examination after recovering it from the spot. ‘Police seized the truck’, he added.
