Five people were killed and five others injured in a collision between a truck and a human hauler (locally called Mahindra) in Kashipur area of sadar upazila on Thursday morning. The deceased were identified Swapon, 45, driver of the human hauler, and Meherunnisa, 34, a resident of Rahmatpur village of Babuganj upazila. Police said the accident took place when the goods-laden truck collided with the human hauler in the area on the Dhaka-Barisal highway around 9am, leaving five people dead on the spot and five others injured. The injured were admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Shaheduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Barisal sadar police station, confirmed the incident. – Barisal, Apr 16 (UNB)
