A truck driver died on the spot and two others were seriously injured when 2 loaded trucks collided head on at Dhaka-Mongla Highway of Palerhat in front of Golam auto rice mill under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Md. Amirul Islam (40), driver of one the trucks. He was the son of one Md. Rais Uddin hails from Sanghat village under Shibganj Upazila in Chapaimawabganj district while the injured driver was Md. Siraj and his son Asib of the other truck were fatally injured. They were recovered by the police and the locals and were admitted to Khulma Medical College Hospital for treatment. They hail from Fultala area in Khumna City Corporation.
It is learnt from the police and the locals that at the noon one the truck laden with goods was going from Gopalganj to Mongla Port and when reached the place of occurrence the other truck that was coming from its opposite direction collided head on with it violently. As a result, both the trucks were badly damaged and the causalities were done.
