Tributes paid to labour leader Roy Ramesh

People from all walks of life paid their last respects to renowned labour leader Roy Ramesh as his body was brought to Bangabandhu Avenue and the Central Shaheed Minar premises on Friday afternoon. The body of Sramik League leader was kept at the Central Shaheed Minar at about 3:30 pm.
Earlier, his body was kept at the Jatiya Sramik League office at Bangabandhu Avenue from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm to pay last tribute by his political comrades.
Later, from the Shaheed Minar, the body was taken to Dhakeshwari National Temple where people also paid their respects to him.
Representatives of different political, socio-cultural organizations and professional bodies paid their last tributes to their leader by placing wreaths at his coffin there.
People who gathered to pay their last tribute to him include: Awami League Advisory Council Member Mukul Bose, AL Labour and Manpower Secretary and Chairman of Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) Habibur Rahman Siraj, JSD General Secretary Shirin Akhter, MP, Saifuzzaman Shekhor, MP, Shamsun Nahar Bhuiyan, MP, Jatiya Sramik League President Shukkur Mahmud and General Secretary Sirajul Islam, former JSL President Abdul Matin Master, Dr Wajedul Islam of Sramik Kormochari Oikya Parishad. Former Jatiya Sramik League General Secretary Roy Ramesh Chandra died of heart attack at his Lalmatia residence in the city on Wednesday morning. The former member of the governing body of International Labour Organisation died at 68.
Ramesh, also President of United Federation of Garment Workers, left behind his wife, a daughter and a son, his grandchildren and a host of relatives as well as admirers to mourn his death.
