The 20th death anniversary of Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam was observed on Thursday paying glowing tributes to the brave lady and mother of a martyr who was the torch bearer for the movement for the war crimes trial. Different social and cultural bodies recalled her contributions and the time-befitting pioneering role spearheading the movement for war crimes trial paying deep homage to her in observance of her death anniversary.
Marking the day, the Ekatorrer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee (The committee for elimination of the killers and collaborators of 1971) placed wreaths on the grave of Jahanara Imam at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in the morning while a memorial lecture was organised at the auditorium of the Women’s Volunteers Association at Dhanmondi on Thursday afternoon.
