Tributes paid to Bangamata

Awami League, its associate bodies and different like-minded organizations on Friday paid rich tributes to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, wife of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by placing wreaths at Banani graveyard here on the occasion of her 84th birth anniversary.
Qurankhwani, milad and doa mahfil were also held here on the occasion praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangamata terming her as one of the most courageous, intelligent, dedicated, loving and affectionate lady of the national history.
AL Advisory Council Member Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Presidium Member and Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising Secretary Ahmed Hossain and Khaled Mahmud Chowdhury, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Publicity and Publication Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil and central committee member Aminul Islam Amin, among others, were present during that time. Apart from central Awami League, Dhaka city unit of AL, Awami Juba League, Awami Swechchasebak League, Krishak League, Mohila Awami League, Juba Mohila League, Jatiya Sramik League, Bangladesh Chhatra League and Dhaka District Mohila Awami League also paid tribute to Bangamata.
Bangamata Fazilatun Nesa, mother of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was born at Tungipara of Gopalganj district in 1930. She lost her father Sheikh Jahurul Haque at the age of three and her mother Hosne Ara Begum at the age of her five years. She got married his cousin Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She was killed with Bangabandhu in the brutal killings on the fateful day on August 15, 1975.
