Tributes paid to Baby Moudud

Speakers at a discussion meeting here attached importance to taking specific efforts to preserve the fond memories of eminent writer-journalist Baby Moudud.
“Facing all the adverse situation in life, Baby Moudud tried to move ahead holding her head high and exposed her personality through success in life. Her exceptional simplicity, honesty, dedication to profession and sense of responsibility towards people were imitable,” said Emeritus Prof Anisuzzaman on Friday while speaking as the chairperson at a discussion in the city.
The Sangbadik Samaj (Journalist Community) organised the discussion at the VIP lounge of the National Press Club to pay deep homage to their colleague and litterateur Baby Moudud marking her first death anniversary.
Recalling their fond memories and long-close association with the late journalist, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, researcher and writer Syed Abul Maksud, Editor of daily Samakal Golam Sarwar and President of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Mujahidul Islam Selim.
Senior journalist Farid Hossain conducted the discussion.
Prof Arefin Siddique said, “What Baby Moudud used to utter she uttered clearly specifically. The agonies, pains and sufferings of the common people kept her busy always.”
Golam Sarwar said, “With her simple and plain lifestyle Baby Moudud taught everybody in the society as to how to love people. She was an exception at a time when everybody runs after his/her narrow individual interests.”
Terming that Baby Moudud was not only a journalist by profession she had many other entities, Syed Abul Maksud said, “She was attracted by all for her family lifestyle, simplicity, efficiency and inherent quality of selflessness.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim Helal, Convenor of Sangbadik Samaj Ataur Rahman and other senior journalists attended the discussion.
