The Sylhet Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on Sunday deferred to January 10 the charge framing in the case filed over the gang-rape of a newly married woman in a Sylhet MC College hostel on September 25, 2020.
Tribunals Public Prosecutor Rashida Sayeeda Khanam said that, Judge Mohitul Haque passed the order after respondents’ and lawyers had sought time to the court for filing a ‘no confidence’ complaint against the charge sheet, submitted by the investigation officer of the case, On December 3, Shah Paran Police Inspector Indranil Bhattacharya, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet against eight activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, student organisation of ruling Awami League.
All the accused people, Saifur Rahman, 28, Tarekul Islam Tarek, 28, Arzun Laskar, 25, Rabiul Islam, 25, Mahfuzur Rahman Masum, 25, Misbahul Islam alias Rajan Ahmed, 26, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, 25, and Ayinuddin, 28, were produced before the court from jail, said Rashida.
