England’s World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss has been appointed the new coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the franchise announced on Thursday (July 18). He will replace Tom Moody who has coached the franchise since 2013. Under him, SRH won the championship in 2016.
Bayliss had earlier announced he will step down from his position of England coach after the Ashes. He had previously been associated with the IPL as Kolkata Knight Riders’ head coach, coming on board in 2012, with the franchise winning two titles under him. He has also won the Big Bash League and the Champions League as head coach of the Sydney Sixers.
Bayliss has built a strong portfolio over the years after being Sri Lanka’s head coach when they lost the World Cup final to India in 2011. He additionally led the turnaround for England in limited-overs cricket and was instrumental in them winning the 2019 World Cup.
