A 15-day long tree plantation and divisional Tree Fair-2022 have began at Alia Madrasa ground premises of Sylhet City on Saturday.
Sylhet District Administration and Forest Department have jointly organised the fair. The theme of this year is Brikhaprane Prokriti-Protibesh, Agami Projanmer Teksai Bangladesh.
On the occasion of the day a colorful rally was brought out in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the morning, the rally went around the important roads of the city and ended at Sylhet Government Aliya Madrasa ground. After the rally a discussion meeting was also held at there.
Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Mujibur Rahman presided over and moderated by Saimun Ivan and Jannat Asha, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain spoke as the chief guest.
He said that we need 25 percent forest land. We will be able to achieve this goal with the combined efforts of all. He urged the students to participate in tree plantation to build the future Bangladesh. At this time, he also said that in the case of stone extraction, a decision should be taken considering proper research and environmental damage. Sylhet District Superintendent of Police and Additional DIG Mohammad Farid Uddin, Sylhet Range Superintendent of Police Zedan Al Musa spoke on the occasion. Sylhet Divisional Forest Officer Taufiqul Islam gave a welcome speech on the occasion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mobarak Hossain, Director of Environment Department Sylhet Emran Hossain, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner Ahsanul Alam, Assistant Forest Conservator Abu Bakkar Siddique, Maruf Hossain, Mahmudul Islam among others were present on the ocetion.
A total of 21 stalls of different nurseries and institutions participated in the fair.
