UNB, Dhaka :
Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman HM Ershad on Sunday said it is very shameful for Bangladesh that a number of
countries have issued travel alert for their citizens living in and visiting Bangladesh following the killings of two foreign nationals.
“It’s very embarrassing that foreign nationals have started leaving the country after the issuance of security alert,” he said. The JaPa urged the government to stop foreigners from leaving the country by providing them enough. “We’ll have to get rid of the situation.”
Ershad, also a Special Envoy to the Prime Minister, came up with the remarks at a meeting with Jatiya Party’s Rangpur division leaders at his Banani office in the city. The JaPa chief also alleged that the law-and-order situation is deteriorating day by day as the government has failed to establish the rule of law and good governance in the country.
Observing that the country’s people no longer want to see the ruling Awami League in power, the former military ruler said, “Their popularity has now hit the zero level. Everybody is waiting to say goodbye to them.”
Ershad urged his party leaders and activists to capitalise on the government’s waning popularity, increase JaPa’s organiaational activities and form the government by winning the next election.
