Trauma first aid services launched

A new service ‘Trauma First Aid Services’ was launched on 20km of the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Manikganj on Tuesday.
Bangladesh does not currently have a national emergency response system, and TraumaLink is the first organization in the country to provide trauma first aid services on the highways.
Its service model utilizes an emergency hotline number, a 24/7 call center, and volunteer first responders recruited from the local community who are trained in basic trauma first
aid and provided with necessary medical equipment like stretchers and bandages, said a press release.
Deputy Secretary (Local Government) Md. Abdul Matin, renowned columnist and journalist Syed Abul Maksud, Dr Uttam Kumar Sarkar and Officer in Charge, Golra Highway Thana, Manikganj Md Habibur Rahman including TraumaLink volunteer first responders attended the event organized by TraumaLink.
TraumaLink’s Director of Operations Esha Chowdhury said, “We aim to expand our operation to the most dangerous highways of Bangladesh so that we are able to provide more service to people in need.”
