Transport workers blocked Dhaka-Sylhet Highway

On the first day of the motor-vehicle strike, transport workers blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway demanding the withdrawal of newly enacted Road-Transport Act-2018. It has created severe sufferings for the people since Wednesday morning. The agitated workers blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway. As a result, no vehicles were seen on the road, nor even private cars are also being turned down.
Transport workers have taken Narayanganj,
Shimrail of Siddhirganj, Kanchpur and Dhaka-Sylhet Highway. Not only that, they are disrupting other vehicles’ movement also. It is learned that the transport workers blocked the road in Narayanganj’s Signboard, Shimrail and Kanchpur area of Siddhirganj, leaving the transport buses on the road.
A sufferer named Abdur Rahim told that the agitated workers stopped his private car in the Signboard area on the way to Dhaka and punched his vehicle’s wheels.
