Staff Reporter :An indefinite transport strike began on Wednesday in the country’s southern region in protest against arrest of three transport workers.As a result, thousands of bus passengers remained stranded at the region’s different bus terminals, and along the Dhaka-Jessore route.The decision of strike was taken after Police had arrested three transport workers in connection with a robbery in a bus of the Sohag Paribahan at Madhukhali in Faridpur district on the Dhaka-Satkhira highway early Tuesday.Transport workers alleged that driver andhelper of a passenger bus went to a local police station for filing a general diary (GD) about the bus robbery, but astonishingly police detained them.A Sohag Paribahan counter-master Abdul Jabbar said that they were waiting for signal from the union leaders to resume the bus service.
