Bangladesh Road Transports Sramik Federation will launch 24 hours strike in all routes of the greater chittagong from Monday next protesting the alleged violation of contempt of court by Chittagong Metropolitan Police authority . The decision of strike was taken at a meeting held at its office premises in BRTC market in city on Thursday duly chaired by its president Md. Musa.
Federation sources said despite the standing order of High court for plying unregistered autorickshaws , CMP authority is obstructing these unregistered autorickshaws which is a contempt of court, sources said.
While contacted President of Sramik Federation, Eastern Zone committee Mrinal Chowdhury told that High court has given verdict in favour of unregistered auto rickshaws until the registration are completed by BRTA but CMP police prohibiting the plying these autorickshaws defying the higher court’s order.
He further said in last few days, CMP police detained a number of auto rickshaws and cases filed under MV act against 30-40 auto rickshaws . He also said to protest the police harassment defying the HC’s order ,sramik federation decided to enforce strike in all routes of greater Chittagong on Monday.
