Chittagong Regional Transport Owners, Workers Oikya Parishad called dawn to dusk transport strike in 19 routes of South Chittagong demanding renovation and repair of deteriorated Chittagong -Co’xs Bazar Highway .
The decision of strike was announced at a meeting of the Oikya Parishad held Tuesday with President of the Parishad and the General secretary of Chittagong District Road Transport Group Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
The meeting expressed concern over the dilapidated conditions of the highway and internal roads. President of the Parishad said due to deep holes in the roads and torning of road carpeting caused damage of engine parts and occurring frequent accidents .
Abul Kalam Azad said Chittagong Cox’sBazar is a most important highway linking Myanmar which is now tunred unuseable and need permanent renovations immediately. If these roads are renovated on priority basis , toughter movement will be enforced in south Chittagong beside the strike on October 19 next, the parishad sources said.
