Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister M Shahab Uddin said transparency and accountability must to be ensured to implement the climate change trust projects.
“The global leaders appreciated the projects taken by our government to meet the climate change risks,” he said this recently while exchanging views with climate change fund officials at Old Forest Bhaban at Mohakhali in the city.
The minister said: “We have started works to face climate change risks with own finance and ‘Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund’ is the main example in this regard.”
Giving importance to ensuring transparency and accountability for implementing the projects financed by the Climate Change Trust Fund, Shahab Uddin asked the ministry officials to maintain close surveillance for proper implementation of every project.
“Any irregularity will not be accepted in the implementation of projects,” he warned and said, “We have to give more attention to building ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intention is that.”
Among others, Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar, Secretary Abdullah Al Mohsin Chowdhury and officials concerned were present.
