Under the auspices of Bagerhat SANAC (Sachetan Nagarik Committee) of TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh) and with the assistance of Bagerhat District Primary Education Office and Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Primary Education Office a meeting for exchange of views with the Head Teachers and presidents of SMCs (School Managing Committees) of Government Primary Schools within Mukkhait cluster comprising Gotapara, Bisnupur and Bemarta Union Parishads under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila was held in Gotapara Union Parishad auditorium on Wednesday morning with Md. Shahidul Islam, Upazila Primary Education Officer, Bagerhat in the chair in order to establish transparency and accountability in primary education and to raise the standard of the same (primary education). Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Vice-president of Bagerhat SANAC explained the aims and objects of TIB and the need and importance of holding such a co-ordination meeting in his address of welcome.
Ashok Kumar Samaddar, District Primary Education Officer of Bagerhat who was the chief guest in the meeting told, the overall development and prosperity of a country mainly depend on her good and proper education system and primary education is the base of all kinds of educations. So, we should give more emphasis on the primary education of our country. The chief guest requested the teachers to teach the students sincerely, honestly and with commitment. He also requested the presidents of SMCs (School Managing Committees) to help the teachers so that they could discharge their duties properly.
The meeting was also addressed among others by educationist Prof. Mozaffar Hossai as a special guest, Shmsher Ali, UP Chairman of Gotapara Union Parishad, Shaikh Mostakim Billah, Assistant Upazila Primary Education Officer of Bagerhat, Shaikh Bashir Ahmed, Area Manager of TIB, Head Teachers Shyamali Maitra, Mahbubur Rahman, Alamgir and SMC Presidents Rezaul Isalam, Shahidul Islam, Manas Kumar Pal and Shankar Saha. The meeting was conducted by SANAC member Shaikh Mujibor Rahman.
