The government has decided to start transit flights for one week from Wednesday, keeping in mind the issue of expatriate workers.
Confirming the matter on Monday night, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mofidur Rahman told the media that transit flights would start from Wednesday. “We will give a press release in this regard on Tuesday.”
He added that more than 100 special flights have been operated every week to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar and Singapore since April 17, keeping in mind the issue of expatriate workers in the lockdown. Besides, it has been decided to launch transit flights.
It is to be mentioned that transit flights are open to everyone, including expatriate workers. However, these flights can only go from Bangladesh. No transit flight will enter Bangladesh.
