Training vital to flourish latent talents of students

Speakers at a discussion said leadership training always play pioneering role towards flourishing latent talents and moral values among the students.
So, they stressed the need for arranging leadership training for the students of higher seats of learning for equipping them with modern knowledge for the sake of cherished national development in future.
They viewed there is no alternative to generate community leadership from among the students to take forward the nation successfully and that is very important to bring a qualitative change everywhere in the society.
Besides, higher seats of learning both public and private of the country should take the responsibilities of extending all requisite supports towards the students so that they are encouraged towards the nation building process, they added.
The observations came yesterday at the closing and certificate-giving ceremony of a four-day training course styled “Active citizens Youth Leadership Training” held at Postal Academy in Rajshahi.
The training included several individual and group presentations, debate competition on social issues and carrier planning through which participants demonstrated their creativity and communication skills.
The Hunger Project and British Council jointly organized the course in
association with Active Citizens Programme where 36 students from different
departments of Rajshahi University attended.
Regional Coordinator of the Hunger Project Jakarul Islam, Area Coordinator
Subrata Kumar Paul and Active citizen facilitators Ali Akbar Rubel and
Sharmin Akter spke on the occasion.
They said there is no alternative to training to enhance professional
skills among the students. Apart from this, knowledge acquired from the
trainings should be applied in real life. Responsibilities for social and
pragmatic life must comply properly.
Jakarul Islam said the initiative has been taken to engage the students
towards democratic activities through their active and effective
participation for strengthening capacity of professional skills.
Time has come to generate more and more students’ leadership in the society
for making them time-fitting social actor to free the society from various
crimes and malpractices like drug-addiction.
Enriching students’ leadership along with their capacity building is the
precondition to generate job opportunities, social development and free the
society from gender discriminations and vicious cycle of poverty, he further
said.
The discussants underscored the need for expanding the computer and other
vocational training infrastructures to the students’ level as there is no
alternative to disseminate computer literacy and knowledge to the young
generation in the era of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
There should be optimum measures of creating marketing facilities of the
educated youths which are being generated by the highest seats of learning
every year for their self-reliance besides reducing the existing burden of
unemployment.
Women participation in all the development process has become an urgent
need for substantial and sustainable reduction of gender disparity.
