The inaugural session of a five-day long SAARC regional training program on pesticide residue analysis, jointly organized by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), has been held at seminar room of BARI yesterday.
A total of 16 participants from seven SAARC countries are participating in the training workshop. During the five-day training, trainees from SAARC countries will gain a hands-on training on crops pesticide residue analysis at the ISO certified Pesticide Analytical Laboratory of the Entomology Division of BARI.
Honorable Additional Secretary (PPC Wing) of the Ministry of Agriculture Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf inaugurated the training workshop as chief guest in the morning while BARI Director General Dr. Abul Kalam Azad presided over the function. Director of the SAARC Agriculture Center (SAC) Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Bokhtiar and BARI Director (Training and Communication Wing) Dr. Md. Miaruddin were present as special guests. Chief Scientific Officer and Chief of the Entomology Division of BARI Dr. Debashish Sarker address the welcome speech and Principal Scientific Officer of the division Dr. Nirmal Kumar Dutta conducted the program.
