A two-day long online training on “Training on Hydroponic Techniques for the Young Agricultural Researcher of Bangladesh” was held on Monday and Tuesday at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute. This training was conducted under the “Sakura Science Exchange Programme” administered by Japan Science and Technology Agency and organized by Shimane University, Japan. Young researchers of BARI have participated in this basic hydroponics training and technology exchange program.
This programme has been coordinated by Prof. Toshiki Asao of Shimane University, Japan and Dr. Asaduzzaman, HRC, BARI, Gazipur. In the opening ceremony Prof. Harumi Ao, Director, Centre for International Student, Shimane University, and Dr. Debasish Sarker, Director General of BARI given their speech.
In this training programme, young scientist of BARI has been learned about hydroponics and soilless cultivation, the history of Japanese hydroponic culture, hydroponics research activities of Shimane University, hydroponic systems, hydroponic nutrient solution formulation and preparation. Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman of BARI presented the present status and prospect of hydroponic culture in Bangladesh. Online visit of Prof. ASAO laboratory, Plant Factory, Greenhouses, and Shimane University was included in the training. Participants and Prof. Asao also discuss the future hydroponic research and possible collaboration on the exchange of Science and Technology between Japan and Bangladesh.
In the closing ceremony, Prof. Makoto Kawamukai, Dean, Faculty of Life and Environmental Science, Shimane University and Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Bokhtiar, Executive Chairman, BARC was present. At the end certificate of accomplishment was given to the young research by Dr. Debasish Sarker, the Director General of BARI.
