The full-fledged training camp for Bangladesh Under-21 Hockey team’s will likely to start in the mid of the September. Hosts Bangladesh Under-21 Hockey team will take part in the Bangabandhu Junior Asia Cup Hockey. The hockey tournament will be held at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium from January 21 to January 30.
A source of BHF said to this Reporter on Friday, ” A total of sixteen players are taking part in the skill and fitness training at Dhaka Cantonment under supervision of the coaches of Bangladesh Air Force. The full-fledged training camp for Junior Asia Cup Hockey is likely to be held from the mid of the September.”
The Men’s Junior Asia Cup was originally scheduled to take place on June 4-14 this year with the participation of ten countries, but the Asian Hockey Federation postponed the tournament in March due to coronavirus outbreak.
The ten countries are Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, India, Oman, Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Pakistan and hosts Bangladesh.
Among the ten countries top six teams – Bangladesh, India, Japan, Pakistan, South Korea and Malaysia – of last tournament will directly play this year’s tournament while remaining four teams – China, Chinese Taipei, Oman and Uzbekistan – have come after participating in the selection round held in Oman last year.
Top three countries will get tickets of the World Cup Junior Hockey Tournament.
Besides, Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) will arrange the Asian Championship Hockey Trophy from March 11 to March 19 in nest year. Hosts Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan will compete in the prestigious hockey meet.
