Speakers at a meeting observed that the trained imams have a vital role to play for freeing the society from social and moral degradation especially terrorism and violence against women.Imams can influence society so that they should come forward to free the society from social and moral degradation.
They came up with the observation while inaugurating refreshers training course for the trained imams of the 889th batch of Imam Training Academy at the divisional office conference hall of Islamic Foundation (IF) in Rajshahi.
Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr Abdul Mannan addressed the ceremony as the chief guest while Deputy Director of Imam Training Academy Dr Ashem Ali spoke as special guest with IF Divisional Director Jalal Ahmed in the chair.
Mujahidul Islam, assistant director of IF, welcomed the participants giving an overview of the course and its ultimate goals.
Dr Abdul Mannan said the society at present is infested with various destructiveness, crimes, misconceptions and anomalies due to lack of proper knowledge on moral and religious values.
The trained imams should do something better against the crimes as part of their social responsibility.
He also urged the attending imams to disseminate their updated knowledge to be acquired from the training course among the community people as the present government is committed to build a happy and prosperous society. The meeting was told that the imam training academy has been extending computer literacy training among the youths besides training imams on various income-generation and social issues.
