Train operations from Dhaka to other destinations across the country, except Narayanganj, was suspended for three hours on Wednesday as some students staged demonstration blocking Nilphamari-bound Neelsagor Express at Airport Station in the capital.
Moreover, on 12 pm, the train services resumed as agitating students withdrew their barricade getting assurance from the railway administration. Earliar, the students sat on the railway line around 9am.
Khairul Kabir, Divisional Transport Officer (Dhaka) of Bangladesh Railway, confirmed the development to the media.
The students, who are supposed to appear in
Rajshahi University admission test, blocked the station failing to get the tickets.
The students alleged that many students gathered on the ticket counter to collect tickets to go to Rajshahi to take part in the entrance exam of Rajshahi University. But after giving tickets to a few students, the counterman said that the tickets were out of stock.
