A mentally challenged man died on the spot as a freight train ran over him at Jashore Cantonment area around 8:45am on Thursday.
The dead was identified as Sharif Uddin, 45, of Mirzabari village under Jibannagar upazila in Chuadang district.
Sub inspector Tarequzzaman of Jashore railway police told newsmen that the mentally challenged man died as the freight train ran over him while he was walking on the rain track.
