A mother along with her autistic daughter committed suicide by jumping before a running train near Bakultola area in Sadar upazila of Panchagarh district on Saturday noon.The deceased were identified as Shaymoli Boshak, 21, and her two years old daughter Pabitra Sen Maya.
Daughter of Arun Boshak, Shaymoli used to live with her father’s residence along with her autistic daughter at Mirzapur union under Atwari upazila of the district.
When contacted, Officer-in-Charge of Panchagar Sadar Police Station Md Rabiul Hasan Sarkar said they recovered the bodies from the rail track.
Shamoli along with her daughter jumped under the wheels of a Panchagar-bound local train ‘Uttora’ around 12:15pm. The mother and the toddler were killed on the spot, he added.
After birth of her daughter Shamoli’s in-laws denied recognising the child as their family member, the OC said.
Shaymoli also filed a case against her husband with Panchagar Judges’ Court under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act over the matter, he added.
They are suspecting that Shamoli might have committed suicide over family feud, the OC added.
Witnesses said at first Shaymoli threw her daughter before a Panchagarh bound local train and later she also jumped before it. They both met the tragic end of their lives at a time, they said. Talking to local journalists Arun Boshak said he arranged his daughter’s marriage with Prodip Kumar of Thakurgaon district three years ago.
“After the marriage, Prodip used to torture her in many ways. At one stage, he ousted my daughter from his house. My pregnant daughter later came to my house where she gave a birth to an autistic child,” he said.
Besides, he said Shaymoli also used to live with her maternal uncle’s house.
“On Saturday Shaymoli and my grandchild were scheduled to go to an Autistic clinic from his maternal uncle’s house. But now you (journalists) know everything,” the ill-fated father said.
