Staff Reporter :A police constable was killed when a truck ran over him in the city’s Jatrabari area early Monday. The victim has been identified as Delwar Hossain, 40, constable of Demra zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), police said. Assistant Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md Alamgir Hossain said that Delwar was hit by a truck near Fatema Gas Filling Station while he was crossing the road around 5:30am.He was about to start his day’s duty when the Narayanganj-bound truck hit him, the police official said. Locals rushed him to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors declared him dead, said the police official.The truck managed to escape after the incident, he said.
